SARS – Temporary Aircraft Importation

TEMPORARY IMPORTATION OF GOODS FOR PROCESSING, REPAIR AND CLEANING

1. The goods imported as per above subject heading are registered under rebate item 470.02 and shall strictly be used for repair, cleaning or reconditioning and shall be re-exported within six months from the date of entry thereof

2. Liability of duty on any goods specified in rebate 470.02 shall cease on production of proof that the goods imported have been used for repair, cleaning, reconditioning, processing or manufacture and the goods repaired, cleaned, reconditioned, processed or manufactured have been duly exported.

3. A provisional payment or a bond covering both duties and VAT should be lodged to cover the surety while goods are still inside the republic.

4. Such goods may be re-exported through any customs office through which goods may be made in more than one consignment; and

5. The documents produced at the time of importation shall be produced to the Controller and goods shall be re-exported under the supervision of an officer, if so required by the Controller.

6. The liability of the importer shall cease if he proves that the goods have been duly re-exported or if the goods have been exported under supervision of an officer.
